AROUND BOLONGS - SINE SALOUM
ITINERARY:
Day1: Dakar - Ndangane - Island of Mar Lodj
Departure very early in the morning (7:00 am) towards Ndangane where we will take a canoe to reach the island of Mar Lodj in the heart of the mouth of the Sine river. Installation at the hotel then visit of the village of Mar Lodj. Return to the hotel, time for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, departure by canoe to visit the mangroves at the mouth of the Saloum where fresh water mixes with the sea, forming a labyrinth of canals and islands. In addition, this paradise is home to many birds. Return to the hotel, dinner and evening.
Day2 : Island of Mar Lodj - Ndangane - Joal Fadiouth - Dakar
Breakfast and departure from Mar Lodj towards Dakar. We will stop at Joal Fadiouth, a town located at the end of the Petite Côte, south-east of Dakar. Joal and Fadiouth are actually two towns: Joal - the larger one, established on the coast, and Fadiouth, an artificial island made of seashells. The two towns are communicated by a long wooden bridge. The city is known for being the birthplace of the first president of Senegal, Léopold Sedar Senghor, but also for his religious tolerance between Christians and Muslims. Strolling through the narrow streets we visit the church and the sanctuary of the Virgin Mary, the mosque, the Christian-Muslim cemetery or the barley barns on stilts. Lunch in Joal (included) and continuation to Dakar.
